Kidnappers of the President of the Association of Newspapers Distributors, John Emmanuel, have demanded the sum of N15 million for his release.

Emmanuel was said to have been kidnapped about 8pm while returning home on Tuesday by an organised ring of criminals posing as public transport drivers, popularly known as one chance, on the Giri Highway in the Federal Capital Tertiary (FCT).

One chance is a form of organised crime that involves criminals posing as public transport drivers, such as taxi or bus drivers, and then robbing their passengers.

The victim’s wife, Mrs Uche Emmanuel, confirmed her husband’s kidnap on Wednesday, adding that his abductors had demanded a ransom of ₦15 million for his freedom.

She said, “My husband was in a public taxi on his way back home. Unfortunately, the taxi was a one-chance vehicle, and they’re demanding ₦15 million before they’ll release him.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said the incident had not been reported at any of their stations as at yesterday.
