Association of Nursing Students Rejects OAU Teaching Hospital Fees Reduction

The National Association of Student Nurses, Midwives and Perioperative Nurses of Nigeria (NASNMPONN), Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex (OAUTHC), has said it will not accept the reduction of the university’s fees from N840,000 to N640,000 because it is still too high for them to pay.
The association made this known in a statement jointly signed and issued on Wednesday by its President, Akinade Solomon, General Secretary, Adubi Temitope and the Public Relations Officer, Famakinde Oyindamola.
This is coming after it was reported that the management of Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTH) College of Nursing increased its tuition fees from N250,000 to N840,500, amounting to over 200% increment.
“The exorbitant increment places an overwhelming burden on students, fundamentally affecting their access to education.
“This adjustment still weighs heavily on the financial capabilities of the student populace.
“The Student Union is still actively engaged in ongoing dialogues with hospital management to explore additional possibilities for a more substantial decrease in school fees.
“The breakdown of our school fees is still undergoing further negotiations, yet to be released.”
