Residents in Tayi area of Minna, Niger State, have saved a day old baby from death in a bush where he was dumped by his unknown mother.

An eye witness who joined other residents to rescue the child said the baby was found a few hours after he was abandoned on Saturday evening when residents’ attention was drawn to his cries.

The residents thereafter, called the Niger State Child Rights Agency to carry the baby and take care of him.

The Agency has taken the child to the state Orphanage Home for safekeeping, while an investigation is ongoing to ascertain who the mother is.
