The government of Lagos State has restated its commitment to providing an enabling environment for women to compete favourably with their male counterparts in the state.

The Secretary to the State Government, Bimbo Salu-Hundeyin, in a press conference on Saturday, emphasised Governor Babajide Sanwoolu’s dedication to gender balance as evident in his appointments in the state.

She said “Governor Sanwo-Olu-led administration has shown a deep commitment to gender balance in its appointments,” and further noted that the government has implemented various initiatives, including skills acquisition and empowerment programmes, to ensure the voices of women in the state are not only heard, but amplified.

While reflecting on the resilience of Nigerian women, Salu-Hundeyin expressed admiration for their commitment to maximise their potentials.

The Secretary to Lagos State Government stated that Lagos is leading by example in ensuring gender equality, noting that “it is the only state in Nigeria today, and I say this for free, that has in the civil service, the permanent secretaries, 50 per cent women; 50 per cent with men.

“We believe in gender equality and inclusiveness.” she affirmed.
