Yobe Governor Spent N1.85 Billion on Welfare, Others – Report

The Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, spent over N1.85 billion on welfare, sitting allowances and another N110 million on ‘bank charges’ between January and June, 2023.
This is according to a report published by Sahara Reporters on Friday.
Citing “Yobe State 2nd Quarter 2023 Government Budget Performance Report” published on the state government’s website, the publication explained that the government recorded N110,760,524.90 as spent on “bank charges” during the period.
“N85.4 million was spent in the second quarter of April to June on bank charges while N110.76 million was totally spent from January till June.
”The breakdown shows N1,351,792,866.00 was spent on honorarium and sitting allowance while N505,384,301.59 was used for welfare packages,” it added.
Also in the document, the government claimed another N40.1 million was used for publicity and advertisements.
