NPF, NCCC Arrest Suspect Over Patricia Security Breach, Financial Fraud

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), in conjunction with the National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC), has arrested one Wilfred Bonse in connection with Patricia security breach and complex financial fraud.

The Police disclosed this on Friday in a statement posted on X.

NPF-NCCC said Patricia Technologies Limited had reported the unauthorised modification of computer systems, network data, and the unlawful diversion of funds amounting to over two Hundred Million Naira (N200,000,000:00k) to the Inspector General of Police in a petition after which an investigation was launched into the complex crime.

Outlining the details of the case, it said it involved alleged criminal conspiracy, theft, conversion of cryptocurrency wallets, and unauthorised fund diversion from the company’s Flutterwave account. The petition specifically mentioned some individuals currently at large, the statement disclosed, adding that ”pain staking efforts on their trail led to the arrest of one Amb. Wilfred Bonse.”

It added that ”having registered his involvement in the complex crime. Wilfred Bonse conspired in laundering the sum of fifty million naira (N50,000,000:00k) originating from the fraudulent diversion of six hundred and seven million naira (N607,000,000:00k) from Patricia Technology Company’s account to his bank account through a cryptocurrency wallet.

”While the investigation is ongoing, the Nigeria Police Force wishes to assure the public that all individuals involved in this criminal conspiracy will be brought to justice.”

Similarly, the team arrested the trio of Njoku kingsley, Chigozie Okorie, Jideofor Sejus, all male aged 35, 34 , and 35 years of age respectively, in a case of conspiracy, identity theft and romance scam at Wumba District, Apo Area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

In a related development, NPF-NCCC recovered $179,372.6 belonging to one Ummukulthum Basha who was defrauded in a cryptocurrency trading scheme.
