‘N1500 to N8000’, Asthma Patient Laments Hike in Price of Inhaler, Other Medicines

A man in a viral video on Wednesday complained over the hike in the price of inhalers and other medicines in the market, saying it has gone from 1, 500 naira to 8,000 naira each.

According to him, “Seretide used to be sold for N8,000 plus for a pack, but since the Glaxo-Smith-Kline (GSK) company left Nigeria, the price has increased to N52,500 a pack.”

In the video shared by Instablog on Wednesday, the man also said that Ventolin inhaler that used to be sold for N1,500 or 2,000, is now N8,500.

Seretide is used for management of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in people who need regular treatment.

It is also used for the regular treatment of asthma Reversible Obstructive Airways Disease in adults, adolescents, and children aged 4 years and over.

“We are pleading with the Nigerian overnment to come to our aid and call back (GSK) company because we the asthmatic patients must take these medications, no matter the price, because without this medications, we are going to die.”
