The Taraba State Police Command has disclosed that no fewer than 20 suspected kidnappers have been taken into custody.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Usman, who made this known in a press statement, added that the suspects have been paraded at the command’s headquarters in Jalingo, the State capital.
He said the arrests were made possible by diligent intelligence gathering and resounding outcry from the public, which necessitated a comprehensive manhunt for criminals hiding in identified hotspots within the state.
Usman added that all the suspects had confessed to their involvement in various kidnapping activities.
The PRO further said three AK-47 rifles and a fabricated pump-action gun were recovered from the suspects who they alleged also collected over 30 million naira in ransom from the families of their victims.
He assured that the Command will remain committed to maintaining law and order within the state, and further efforts will be made to apprehend other criminals still at large.
