The Federal Government has hailed the Egyptian Civil Aviation Investment Offer to Nigeria which includes maintenance, repair and overhaul services, as well as technical support, saying it is a welcome development.
While hailing it as a significant boost for Nigeria’s aviation sector after a meeting with the Egyptian Civil Aviation Investment team on Monday,  the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace, Festus Keyamo, expressed appreciation for the offer and affirmed readiness to partner with Egypt to improve the country’s aviation industry.
According to him, the Nigerian government’s commitment to revitalising the aviation sector has seen the creation of an enabling environment for investments in the sector.
The Minister assured the Egyptian team of the country’s availability for more investments in the aviation sector, saying it is willing to provide all necessary support to ensure the success of their investments.
He noted that “most African countries have run into liquidity, which is also affecting the aviation sector. The problem is it has affected aviation sector development in terms of infrastructure: terminals, runways, and safety equipment.”
On his part, the Egyptian Aviation Minister, Lt. Gen. Helmy (Rtd), said that the ambitions and aspirations of Egypt and Nigeria are similar, and only through cooperation can the experience from both sides be put forward.
