There was a fire incident at the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) power transmission station in Birnin-Kebbi, Kebbi state.

The inferno was said to have engulfed the 330 kilovolt (kV) facility on Thursday night.

Nafiu Abubakar, Kebbi police spokesperson, confirmed the incident to TheCable. He however said he did not have full details of the incident at the time.

@Imranmuhdz, an X user, posted a video of the burning facility on the social media platform.

The incident comes a day after the nation suffered a blackout following the collapse of the national grid.

Adebayo Adelabu, minister of power, had said the collapse of the grid was caused by a fire outbreak on the Kainji/Jebba 330kV line.

Efforts to reach KEDCO for details on the incident were unsuccessful as the company’s line was unreachable.
