President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his United Arab Emirates Airlines (UAE) counterpart, President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, have entered into economic collaboration on behalf of their respective countries.
This partnership is a sturdy foundation for substantial investments across various sectors within Nigeria, with a long term goal to bring prosperity for their people, President Tinubu disclosed on his twitter handle @officialABAT on Monday.
He stated: “Together, we are committed to building bridges and fostering a friendship that stands the test of time.”
Tinubu added that as part of the discussions, the visa ban hitherto placed on Nigerians has been lifted with immediate effect.
Consequently, Etihad Airlines and Emirates Airlines will resume flight schedules into and out of Nigeria without immediate payment obligations from the Nigerian government.
In addition, the UAE government committed to substantial investments, totaling several billion U.S. dollars into the Nigerian economy, spanning sectors such as defense and agriculture.
Lastly, a new joint foreign exchange liquidity programme between Nigeria and the UAE will commence, while both countries pledged to normalise and enhance bilateral relations between the two nations.
“We look forward to a future of enhanced cooperation and prosperity between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates,” the President stated.
