The Lagos house of assembly has cleared 15 out of the 18 commissioner-nominees recommended for screening and confirmation by Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of the state.

On Monday, Sanwo-Olu sent a second list containing the names of 18 nominees to the house of assembly for confirmation.

Mudashiru Obasa, speaker of the house, had charged the committee that handled the first list to take responsibility for reviewing the new nominees.

He gave the committee till September 9 as the deadline to report back to the house.

On August 23, the house had  declined to confirm 17 nominees on the first list of 39 forwarded by the governor.

At the plenary on Thursday, the house declined to confirm three of the nominees, including Samuel Egube, a former commissioner for economic planning and budget in Sanwo-Olu’s first term, Olalere Odusote and Tola Sule-Akibu.

Egube was one of the 17 nominees, including Gbenga Omotosho, former commissioner for information, and Akin Abayomi, ex-commissioner for health on the first list who were not confirmed by the house.
