In a move aimed at ensuring the smooth running of the House of Representatives, the Speaker, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, has appointed new chairman for some of the House Standing Committees. This comes after the nomination of some members of the 10th House as Ministers by President Bola Tinubu.
The appointments were announced by the Speaker in a statement he personally signed on Thursday. Some of the new committee chairmen include Hon. Mamudu Abdullahi – (APC, Niger) as Chairman, House Committee on Army, Hon. Pascal Agbodike – (APGA, Anambra) as Chairman, House Committee on Hydrological Services, and Hon. Dennis Idahosa (APC, Edo) as Chairman, House Committee on Healthcare Services.
Others are; Hon. Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo (YPP, Akwa Ibom) as Chairman, House Committee on Electronic and Digital Banking, and Hon. Bukar Talba (APC, Borno) as Chairman, House Committee on Institutional Reforms.
The statement read: “The appointments shall take immediate effect, while the legislative record shall be updated upon resumption of the House from recess.”
