In an attempt to renew its commitment and take urgent action toward the eradication of tuberculosis (TB) globally, the World Health Organisation (WHO) on Thursday urged global stakeholders to register for the forthcoming UN High-Level Meeting (HLM) on Tuberculosis (TB), slated for September 22, 2023, in New York.
TB remains a significant public health concern, causing immense suffering and claiming millions of lives each year. The forthcoming UN HLM on TB aims to address this grave issue by uniting global leaders, policymakers, health experts, and civil society representatives to discuss strategies and mobilize resources to combat the disease.
According to the organisation, the meeting’s theme —”Advancing science, finance and innovation, and their benefits, to urgently end the global tuberculosis epidemic, in particular, by ensuring equitable access to prevention, testing, treatment, and care,” is significant as it will provide impetus to step up progress and efforts against TB in various countries.
All specially accredited organisations must register to attend the event, according to the post on the WHO website.
