Men are more prone to having stroke because their lifestyles put their health at risk, a medical expert has said.
Dr. Roberts Osas Ikhu-Omoregbe of the Maitama District Hospital, Abuja, in a chat with African Health Report (AHR) on causes of stroke, explained that men live hectic lifestyles and take more necotin substances than women.
He also linked stroke occurrence to occupational hazards, accident and trauma.
Dr. Ikhu-Omoregbe explained: “Stroke is a disease of the brain tissue that can result from various issues of the body. For instance, an injury can cause the brain tissue to be damaged.
“There are various causes of stroke which include heart diseases, vascular diseases, stress, drug abuse, lifestyle, excessive smoking and cancers of various forms.”
