FCT Health Board Alerts Public of Diphtheria Outbreak

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Primary Healthcare Board has reported a diphtheria outbreak, with an index case confirmed case and one death.

Director of Public Health, Dr Saddiq Abdurrahman, disclosed this on Monday at a media briefing in Abuja.

He said the outbreak prompted swift action as an Emergency Operation Centre has been activated to tackle tolhe outbreak.

Diphtheria is a highly contagious bacterial infection which can lead to difficulty in breathing, heart rhythm problems and even death.
