The Nigerian Dental Association (NDA) has called on President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to work towards the execution of the country’s national oral health policy.
The President, NDA, Dr Adeyemi Tope, made the call on Sunday in a congratulatory message to President Tinubu. He said Nigeria currently lacks an oral health strategy because the last one was set to expire in 2005.
He said: “We at the Nigerian Dental Association are assured of a renewed hope and we hope that there will be an implementation of the National Oral Health Policy in Nigeria.
“While we heartily congratulate you, please be rest assured that the NDA looks forward to working with you in improving all sectors especially the oral health sector to guarantee better and healthier oral health for Nigerians.”
The National Health Policy thrust embodies the nation of Nigeria’s governments and people working together to create a primary care-based, all-encompassing healthcare system. It outlines the nation’s healthcare delivery system’s objectives, organisation and policy direction.
Dr. Kachi Nnawuihe, the NDA’s Secretary-General, described the oorganisation s the authoritative national voice of dentistry and a non-profit oorganisation evoted to the national and international representation and advancement of the field as well as the attainment of excellent oral health.
According to him, the NDA manages important oral health concerns on behalf of its members and the general public and coordinates national dental health awareness campaigns.
