By Gom Mirian

The Cross River government, in collaboration with the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) and the World Health Organisation (WHO), has unveiled a vaccination campaign against cholera in the Obubra Local Government Area of the state.

Recall in 2023, Nigeria reported 723 cases in nine states and Cross River reported the highest number of cases with 517 from Obubra LGA.

WHO, which made this public on its official website on Thursday, stated that 79 vaccination teams have been deployed to administer oral cholera vaccines in the four hotspot wards in Obubra Local Government Area, targeting people aged one year and above.

“With technical support from @WHO and a partnership from @GAVI, the campaign aims at mitigating the transmission of the outbreak. Officials are optimistic that vaccination will stop the transmission of cholera in the communities.”
