There was an explosion suspected to be a bomb in Keffi Metropolis, the headquarters of Keffi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State on Sunday, killing two persons.
Investigation by our correspondent indicated that the incident happened in the early hours, opposite General Hospital, along Nasarawa Road, Keffi.
Daily Trust gathered that as early as 6am yesterday, residents of Keffi town trooped out in their thousands to catch a glimpse of the scene of the two-bedroom residential apartment, which was affected by the explosion.
Our correspondent learnt that the incident killed two male occupants of the rented apartment in the area.
Some of the residents in the area who didn’t want their names in print told our correspondent that the victims rented the apartment but they travelled periodically.
They stated that the victims returned to Keffi from their journey on Saturday afternoon.
Some people said they were on the wanted list of the Department of State Security (DSS) before nemesis caught up with them.
An eyewitness also informed our correspondent that the victims noticed that the DSS operatives had surrounded their house, hence, they had no option rather than to blow off themselves with an explosive.
Daily Trust reports that security operatives were at the scene of the event to evacuate the dead bodies.
When contacted on phone for comment, the Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), DSP Rahman Nansel said he was in the Church but asked our reporter to send a text message.
He had not replied the text message sent to him as at the time of filing this report.
