The Labour Party (LP) and Peter Obi, its presidential candidate, have three weeks to submit their cases to the presidential election petition tribunal, which is sitting at the court of appeal in Abuja.
The five-member tribunal panel, led by Justice Haruna Tsammani, who revealed this while the hearing’s resumption on Tuesday morning, further instructed the petitioners to complete their case in three weeks, commencing on May 30 when they will start calling witnesses and end on June 23, by calling their scheduled 50 witnesses.
The presidential election tribunal further stated that when the attorneys for the parties adopt their last written addresses on August 5, the petitioner’s trial will be over, adding that thereafter a date for judgment will then be decided.
Speaking about the situation on Tuesday, Kenneth Okonkwo, a leader of the LP and a member of Obi’s legal team, took to his Twitter handle requesting prayers from the general public.
According to him, “COA just presented their report. @PeterObi and LP are given 3 weeks to present their petition commencing from 30th May 2023. The Petitions have been consolidated. In God we trust. Your prayers are coveted. We move to victory.”.
