A 27-Year-Old Hilda Breaks World Record for Long Cook Marathon

By Gom Mirian

A 27-year-old Nigerian chef, Hilda Baci has made history for the long cooking marathon, setting a new pace for the world in the process.

Hilda broke the record of 87 hours, 45 mins, and 00 seconds set by Chef Lata Tondon in Rewa, India, in 2019, on Monday.

Baci’s new record time continues to be counted as she is about to cook for 96 hours, anticipated to set a new Guinness World Record for marathon cooking as the event draws to a close.

The ongoing event at Amore Gardens, Lekki, Lagos State, Nigeria, had Baci cooking round the clock with a wreck of five minutes every hour bringing it to a total of one hour rest every 12 hours.

Meanwhile, Nigerians, including the governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu have come out in their numbers to support and cheer her up both at the venue and on various social media platforms.

According to her, embarking on the modern-day mission is considered one of her largest aspirations, including that it is also a possibility to tell a few high-quality stories from Africa via the meals that we eat.
