The federal government has said it has evacuated 15 batches of 2518 Nigerians from the crisis raided Sudan as the last batch landed in the country on Saturday night.
the 15 batches of 147 nationals who were evacuated from Port Sudan International Airport arrived at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport around 8: 30 pm local time on Saturday via Tarco Air, according to the breakdown given by the Nigerian in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) on its official Twitter handle, @nidcom_gov.
It said the total number of evacuees so far include the first batch, which was transported by Air Peace, arrived in Nigeria with 274 people, while the second batch, which was transported by the military plane C13, arrived with 94 people.
While stating further, it said only 5th and 7th batch were airlifted by MaxAir and Azman with 410 and 322 Nigerians on board respectively.
Meanwhile, Tarco Air seems to have done most of the evacuation exercise as it airlifted the 3rd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 9th batches with 130, 131, 102, 133 and 127 Nigerians on board respectively.
Tarco Air also airlifted 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14 and the 15 which is the last batch of Nigerians evacuated from Sudan with 136, 128, 136, 123, 125 and 147 making a total of 2,518 evacuees brought back by the federal government.
