The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released cut-off marks for admissions into Nigerian tertiary institutions for the 2023/2024 academic session.

The board which made this known after a meeting with heads of tertiary institutions in Abuja, Friday pegged the cut-off mark for universities at 140, and 100 each for polytechnics and colleges of education.

The Registrar, JAMB, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, said that institutions are free to set their cut-off marks, as long as they do not go below the minimum cut-off marks of 140 for universities, and 100 for polytechnics, and colleges of education each.

According to him, vice chancellors of universities, rectors of polytechnics, and provosts of colleges of education at the meeting deliberated on the appropriate cut-off marks, adding that the heads of tertiary institutions have also be given 10 per cent discretionary power in the admission process.

“The meeting called for a review of the admission criteria. The heads of tertiary institutions were given 10% discretionary power in the admission process. This means that they have the power to admit 10% of candidates outside the normal criteria for admission.”
