The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has suspended, with immediate effect, the Resident Electoral Commission for Adamawa State, Alhaji Hudu Ari.

His suspension trails his purported declaration of the result of the Adamawa State governorship election on Sunday, the electoral commission stated on Monday in Abuja.

National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter’s Education, Barr. Festus Okoye, who made this public in a statement made available to Africa Health Report, AHR, asked Ari to “stay away” from the Adamawa office of the Commission and directed the Administrative Secretary to take charge of affairs till further notice.

The statement read: “The commission has withdrawn its delegated powers from Barr. Hudu Yunusa Ari as the Resident Electoral Commission for Adamawa State.

“Accordingly, he has been directed to stay away from the commission’s office in Adamawa State forthwith.

“Meanwhile, the administrative Secretary has been directed to take over the affairs of the state office until further notice
