The Federal Government has officially declared Wednesday, December 25, Thursday, December 26, 2024, and Wednesday, January 1, 2025, as public holidays to mark Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year celebrations, respectively.
In a statement released to Africa Health Report (AHR) on Monday, the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced the upcoming holidays, highlighting the season’s importance as a time to foster harmony, love, and peace among Nigerians. “As we commemorate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, let us show kindness and extend goodwill to one another, regardless of our differences,” he emphasized.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo urged citizens to reflect on the values the season represents, calling for a renewed commitment to unity and national progress. He expressed optimism in the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, highlighting the administration’s goal to usher in a more prosperous economy in 2025.
The Minister reassured Nigerians of the government’s dedication to ensuring peace, security, and development across the country. He extended warm greetings and encouraged families and communities to use the festive period to strengthen bonds and foster a sense of togetherness.
The announcement came through a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, underscoring the Federal Government’s commitment to celebrating the season while prioritizing national unity.
