2 Students Killed in Borno Varsity Bus Accident

A tragic road accident involving a Borno State University staff bus and a truck has claimed the lives of two students and left three others critically injured.

The accident occurred on Njimtilo Road on Wednesday.

According to the Borno State Police Command, the collision resulted in severe injuries for several other students.

The injured victims were promptly rushed to the Umaru Shehu Specialist Hospital for urgent medical attention.

The spokesperson for the police command, Nahum Kenneth, confirmed the incident, stating that a large truck collided with the university bus, causing significant damage. Emergency responders swiftly evacuated the injured to the hospital.

While the identities of the deceased students have yet to be confirmed, the police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.

The incident has cast a somber mood over the university community, with many expressing their condolences to the bereaved families.

This tragic event highlights the ongoing road safety concerns in the region. In a separate incident in September, a boat accident on Maiduguri Road claimed the lives of five people, including a five-month-old infant.
