Mallam Musa Paila, principal of Sambo Secondary School, has been named the best principal in Nigeria at the 2024 Presidential Teachers’ and School Excellence Awards.
The announcement was made during a ceremony celebrating World Teachers’ Day, which emphasised the crucial role of educators.
Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal expressed his pride in Paila’s achievement in a statement on Sunday. “This clearly indicates that the declaration of a state of emergency in the educational sector of Zamfara on November 14, 2023, is producing positive outcomes,” Lawal said.
He noted that the recognition reflects the state’s commitment to improving education.
The awards, presented by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, included a medal and a brand-new car for Paila, underscoring his exceptional contributions to education. “Our administration’s commitment to revitalising education is yielding results,” Lawal added, noting efforts to rebuild a sector he described as having “virtually collapsed.”
The Federal Government’s World Teacher’s Day celebration centered on the theme, “Valuing Teachers’ Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education.”
The event recognised winners from both public and private schools nationwide, who received various prizes, including cars and motorcycles.
